NuStar Energy to Build New Dock in
Corpus Christi - South Texas Alliance for Regional Trade
Jul 23, 2015
On Tuesday, July 21, Port of Corpus Christi Commissioners approved a lease agreement with NuStar Energy LP, for land on the north side of the port’s Industrial Canal. NuStar will lease a 5.43-acre tract of submerged and emergent land to construct a private marine oil dock. The waterfront site is ideally located in proximity to their other Corpus Christi facilities. Under the agreement, NuStar will permit, design, construct and operate the private oil dock, which will be capable of loading and unloading vessels ranging in size from inland barges to Suezmax ships.
The initial lease agreement is for a term of five years, with an option for five additional periods of five years each. NuStar has guaranteed to move a minimum of 29,200,000 barrels of liquid bulk cargo from this dock each year.
The new dock is expected to be ready to receive ships as early as 2017. This additional dock gives the San Antonio based company access to a total of four loading docks at Port Corpus Christi, two of which are private, expanding NuStar’s ability to provide their customers with export opportunities.
